Current Checking Account Holders

All current checking account holders will receive an account change notice through mail or email noting the account they will be moved into.  We want to ensure each member is placed in the account that is best for them.  If the account you are moving into does not fit your needs, you may request a different account by emailing msoq@cgrcu.org or calling us at (478) 745 – 0494.

Q: Why is my account changing?

A: In an effort to better serve our members, we have updated our checking accounts with a range of benefits. These new accounts will be replacing our current checking accounts.

Q: Can I keep my current account?

A: On January 4, the current account you have will no longer be offered. You may choose to switch to any of the new available accounts (excluding Second Chance moving to Value).

Q: Why am I being charged a fee?

A: Preferred Checking has a low monthly account maintenance fee of $2 and includes all of these services at no cost:
no minimum balance, bill pay, identity theft recovery, credit and dark web monitoring with alerts, access to monthly credit score and cell phone protection.

Premier Checking has a low monthly account maintenance fee of $5 and includes all of these services at no cost:
no minimum balance, bill pay, consumer loan discount, identity theft recovery, credit and dark web monitoring with alerts, access to monthly credit score and cell phone protection.

Q: When will I be charged a fee for the new account?

A: The monthly account fee will be charged the last day of each month. The first fee will be charged January 31, 2022.

Q: Is there a free account option?

A: Yes, Classic Checking will not include a monthly account maintenance fee.

Q: Will my account number change?

A: No, your account number and cross reference number will not change. The suffix associated with your checking account WILL change.

Q: Do I need to update my direct deposit or bill pay?

A: No, since your account number is not changing direct deposit and bill pay payments will not be impacted.

Q: Do Prime Time Members still get free checks?

A: Yes, members ages 50 and older will still qualify to receive 2 boxes of checks per year and 5 total cashier’s checks and/or money orders each month. This will apply to Classic, Preferred and Premier Checking accounts.
